About Me

Hey! I'm Chelsea Joy Simdorn. Photographer. Cat lady. Weightlifter. Food blogger.

How I got here

Unlike a lot of photographers, I never once thought I would grow up to be one. Then I shot a friend's wedding as a favour, and that was it. I was hooked.

The energy coming off two people in love is basically electricity, and I love standing right in the middle of it. One of my favourite subjects in college was interpersonal communication, and I still think the nonverbal things are where the truth sits: the smile you save for each other, the hand you reach for without looking, the kiss that lasts a beat longer than it needed to. That is what I watch for all day.

I am also a mega fan of non-traditional weddings. We all know the template a wedding is supposed to follow: wear this, stand there, say that. The days that really get me are the ones where the couple throws that template out. My best wedding advice is simple. The day should be about you, not about what a wedding magazine says to do.

Photography is only one facet of me, though.
